3 Things To Do Today With Your Social Media Accounts

Social Media is an ever changing landscape and with constant tips and tricks thrown at you to make the most of your Social Media, we get it. It seems like you’re running on a never ending hamster wheel. Something to keep in mind is, just because Social Media “experts” are constantly throwing things at you doesn’t mean that all of things will necessarily work for you and your brand. Sometimes they are just throwing things out to stay relevant.

In this blog, I’m going to take you back to the basics. 5 things that maybe you haven’t thought of doing in awhile and while they may seem insignificant they are important things to do.

1. Go through all of your profiles with a fine tooth comb.

It most likely has been awhile since you’ve stopped to think about content and really took the time to look at all of your profiles.

If it’s been awhile your bio could most likely use an update or refresh. Is it still conveying the message that you want to convey, are you letting your followers know why they should be following your account? Delete all the fluffy stuff and stick to keywords that will show your followers what you can do to improve their lives.

Other things to look at, do the links that you have on your profile all still work? If you’re still using Linktree, consider cutting down the number of links that you have turned on, at a time. Also make sure all of your contact information is up to date. Maybe you have gotten a new text number, make sure you are adding any new relevant contact information.

2. Decide what Key Metrics you want to focus on.

Trying to make sure that you are significantly increasing every single metric that analytics offer is putting you on the fast track to failure and disappointment. We don’t recommend putting all of your eggs in the analytics basket but we understand that you want to have a way to track and measure success.

Pick a couple key metrics that you would like to focus on this year and tailor your content to help you hit those goals.

3. Audit your content

Recently Instagram has had a shift in sizing for graphics. Go through your content and see if some of your old content no longer suits your account because you’ve learned some new design skills or the sizing wasn’t quite correct and delete it. When you keep content like that on your account it may make your overall page look unprofessional or convey to your audience that you don’t really care what your page looks like.

While you’re auditing your content, take note of any content that you can refresh and repurpose. If you know something is popular with your audience, there’s nothing wrong with reposting it again. I like to keep 3 months in between reposting.

Remember you’re constantly getting new followers so they may not have been a follower of your page when you posted something. Also think of repurposing as replaying one of your favorite songs. Maybe someone has forgotten how much they loved a post, so having it pop up in their feed again to remind them is a positive thing. Also repurposing helps you save time and energy. There’s no need to always recreate the wheel.
