Counting My Blessings | Creating Interactive & Impactful Social Media Content

Christian broadcasters have a unique opportunity to connect with people through and beyond the airwaves. One approach we’re all aware of is social media, and we are huge fans of creating social media content that invites interaction.

Seph Schlueter is a newer artist, and you may have heard his song “Counting My Blessings.” This song is a beautiful reminder of why gratitude is critical in our lives. As we all can probably agree, life doesn’t always go as planned. In this blog, I will share ways you can encourage your listeners to reflect on the blessings in their lives, God’s faithfulness, and navigating through those difficult seasons in life. Let’s get started. ?

Counting My Blessings – Seph Schlueter Lyric Video

Reflecting on Blessings Across Social Media

Seph’s song starts with him praying for a miracle while acknowledging his fear of having hope. Taking time to look back at how many times God has blessed him helps him move beyond that fear. I’ve been listening to this song on repeat and find so much hope in the following lyrics:

One, two, three / Up to infinity  / I’d run out of numbers / Before I could thank You for everything

This got me thinking about how this song is a perfect theme for creating engaging social media content that resonates with your audience and may play a part in helping them move beyond that fear of having hope.

Here are some ideas for creating a social media campaign centered around counting blessings:

  1. Daily Gratitude Posts: Encourage your followers to share one daily blessing. Use a hashtag like #CountingMyBlessings to build a community of gratitude. This routine can change mindsets and help people focus on the positive instead of the negative. Fostering a spirit of thankfulness. ❤️
  2. Blessings Jar Challenge: Invite your audience to create a “Blessings Jar” at home. Here’s how it would work. Every day, they would write down one thing they’re grateful for and place it in the jar. This could be an individual blessing jar or a family blessing jar. At the end of the month, they can look back, count their blessings, and thank God for each one. ?
  3. Interactive Stories & Polls: Use Instagram or Facebook stories to post questions or polls about gratitude like, “What’s one blessing you experienced this week?” You could also ask your followers to share one way they will bless someone else this week.

Encourage Reflection on God’s Faithfulness

The song “Counting My Blessings” also reminds us that seasons don’t last forever. How can we Christian Broadcasters help our followers remember God is faithful? What if we focused on creating content with a specific purpose, in this case, encouraging reflection?

Here are some ideas:

  1. Scripture Reflections: Share Bible verses about gratitude and God’s faithfulness. You could take it a step further by sharing a short reflection or personal story. Or, highlight how the scripture has come alive in your life. Try different approaches to doing this too. For example, you could use Facebook’s color background feature to spotlight the Bible verse, then after posting, immediately share your personal story or reflection in the comments to get the conversation started.
  2. Video Messages: Make a short-form video where you share your personal story about God’s blessings in your life. That could be a Reel or TikTok with “Counting My Blessings” music in the background. You could also invite people to make their own Reel or TikTok videos counting their blessings.
  3. Blessings Wall: Here’s an idea for your website. Create a “Blessings Wall” on your site where people can post their blessings. This space can serve as a testament to God’s goodness and encourage others to reflect on their blessings. You could also try this as a social media post.

Navigating Difficult Seasons with Gratitude

As we all know, life doesn’t always go as planned. During those moments, remembering what God has done in our lives can have a huge impact in helping us navigate through a difficult season. But that’s not always easy. Below are some ways to offer support and encouragement:

  1. Share Struggles Honestly: Be transparent about your difficult seasons and share how you’ve seen God’s hand at work in your own life. Remember if a listener responds to your story with their own struggle, don’t turn it back to your story. This is your moment to shine as a listener and become a guide that points them towards God’s Truth. Encourage, inspire, love, and be a friend.
  2. Offer Hope: Sometimes, all it takes is a friendly reminder that God’s faithfulness endures. Use stories, scriptures, and songs like “Counting My Blessings” to reinforce this message. Try repeating some of the ideas shared in this blog with other songs you know your listeners or followers love to listen to over and over. If you don’t know the song that resonates most with your audience, ask them on social media. (e.g., What song reminds you of God’s faithfulness?)
  3. Create Support Networks: Consider creating an online group where people feel safe to share their struggles and blessings. Providing a private space for community support can help individuals feel less alone and more encouraged. For example, we just relaunched our Private Facebook Group for the Christian Broadcasting Community. This private group is designed for Christian Broadcasters to connect, share unique experiences, and discuss how we are using various mediums—whether that’s radio, tv, social media, video, websites, in-person events, or other digital platforms—to share the hope and love of Jesus and transform more lives. I would also encourage everyone to consider other private community services like Discord or Mighty Networks.

Becoming more mindful and intentional in creating interactive social media content can have a greater impact on people’s lives. Especially when it aligns with your mission as a Christian Broadcaster.

I’d love to hear your ideas, too! Please share those in the comments below so we can all learn from each other. Let’s continue using these platforms to inspire and encourage people in their journey with Christ.
